Ok, so I meant to mention this, but then fox shenanigans post kinda took priority, lol

First off, I did see the news about who's taking over SCP from KAT-TUN...and it's NEWS, my secondary fandom. I had a LOT of mixed feelings about it, since I'm still super bummed about KAT-TUN losing it, and the simple fact is that I don't like NEWS as much as KAT-TUN. They're close. They have part of an entire wall devoted to them (as did KAT-TUN before all this shit went down)...but they aren't my ichibans. That said though, the fact of the matter is KAT-TUN is leaving SCP no matter what, so this is probably the best outcome for this shitty situation. Had it been anyone else, I'd probably have been even more upset. At least I know that if/when KAT-TUN ever guests on there, we'll probably have the same kind of atmosphere we got when the two groups were together before...at least I hope so.
Here's just hoping the NEWS fandom is as good about uploading it as Hyphens were. It'll suck to have to scrounge for rips.

This is actually gonna be a big test for NEWS to see just HOW well they can hold my attention. Before they were just cute distractions between KAT-TUN releases...now they gotta step up and basically be the replacement primary fandom for a while. We'll see how well that works out. I'll probably just keep doing what I'm doing with HSJ, since I only bother with rips for them anyways.

In toku fandom news...

Sadly, I do not get a wish for collecting them all :P
But yeah, all 15 Eyecons! Plus the ones in the middle for Ghost, Boost, Specter, and the special Kishidan Ghost Eyecon that came with the theme song single. The only ones left to collect are the upcoming Eyecons for Specter and Ghosts's powerups, but it'll still be a while. So far I haven't heard anything about Necrom...he probably won't get one. I haven't decided if I want to get his toy or not...but if Alain grows on me (which after ep. 22 is a very real possibility), and also doesn't die by series end (also a very real possibility because Neo-Heisei series suck), I might.
hikarikirameku: (Happy Rin)
Most everyone's got it already I'm sure, but I added the UNLOCK stuff to the video page.

Trying my best to enjoy the last 4-nin KAT-TUN release we'll ever have. It's very bittersweet. Still, Greatest Journey is a great song...been basically playing it on repeat. JET too. Still really hoping they get performed at the Anniversary tour. We'll find out what the set list is after the first concert at the beginning of April.

In other group news, got my pre-order in for NEWS' WHITE tour blu-ray. It's about damn time!!! I hate how they split the content though. I went with the LE by default, since I can always get the RE later, but I can't afford both versions, and it's gonna suck that I don't have the solo PV making-ofs. I'll have to download them :/ I hope the concert MCs are good, cause the LE has those instead.
hikarikirameku: (Happy Rin)
So both my copies of the UNLOCK single AND the NEWS QUARTETTO album showed up today, lol. Crazy. I'm just now getting around to them, since I had to work all day, but luckily my computer's fast. NEWS took priority, since it wasn't up yet, and it's already on the video page, but I'm working on getting KAT-TUN's stuff done now.

I'm listening to the new NEWS songs right now. Quartetto is fun and catchy. シリウス is happy and uplifting. NEWSKOOL is LOL! I haven't gotten to the others yet since I skipped to solo songs. Sadly, none of them particularly stood out. Tegoshi's is pretty, to be sure, but boring. Keii's is meh. Shige's is weird and sounds like his last one. Massu's...well, I got a LUL out of it.
and this is my KAT-TUN back-up...I am so screwed ^^; Well, I suppose there's always HSJ...maybe.

KAT-TUN, you jerks had BETTER keep your promise and be back eventually! You definitely my only ichiban group!
hikarikirameku: (Happy Rin)
Got KAT-TUN's Tragedy singles today, and they're on the PV page as well.

Atsuku Nare's PV and making of are hilarious. Kinda makes up for the fact that we got jipped on Tragedy's Making of (the PV's pretty cool though!). Anyways, the Atsuku Nare PV and MO made me laugh enough to forget I still kinda want to punch Taguchi.

Of the songs, Tragedy and Feathers are my favorites, followed by Twilight and Atsuku Nare. I have no idea what they were thinking with Tokyo Starry. Doesn't sound like a KAT-TUN-type of song at all :/ Ah well.

My NEWS Hikari no Shizuku/Touch copies finally arrived! Ugh, I hate having to use SAL shipping. I'm just happy they showed up before my KAT-TUN singles show up later this week (everything else I ordered will be coming EMS, thankfully). Despite all the bullshit with KAT-TUN, I suppose I am looking forward to seeing what kind of new music they'll have on the new singles. Plus, there's the one next month. And the NEWS album too. So much stuff @_@

As usual, the PV page has been updated for NEWS accordingly, although I'm pretty late to the party this time. Ah well. If you still need them, they're there.
hikarikirameku: (KAT-TUN)
I got the KAT-TUN page completely updated...I realized it was just in time for Taguchi's birthday. I've been in such a daze with this fandom still, I had actually forgotten about it til I saw a post on Facebook.

Hope he has a Happy Birthday. It'll most likely be the last time I post anything for it. I don't celebrate ex-member birthdays.

In other news, I have been drowning my sorrows in other fandoms, and my friends have taken full advantage of it. Bless her, she tried finding Kanjani8 songs I liked. There weren't many ^^; I guess, like with Arashi, I can't get into that fandom no matter how much I try, lol. There are a lot more Arashi songs I like in comparison though. Meanwhile, V6 has managed to grab my attention because one of the songs they performed at Best Artist was freaking amazing. "Wait for You" is SO GOOD! Plus, it was fun watching an older JE group still acting like dorks (one of them grabbed Koyama during the medley! XD ). I recognized one of the members as the lead from a drama Nakamaru was also in a few years ago. He's got a damn nice voice. Of course, I haven't really paid any attention to V6 since my Inu-yasha viewing days (back during it's original US Cartoon Network run), since they sang the first opening theme and one of the much later endings, and I didn't even know what JE was back then, lol. Gave me an excuse to go back and listen to a few of their older songs for a nostalgia trip. Also, I didn't realize it was Tackey & Tsubasa that sang the fifth opening! WTF! LOL! I wonder how many JE groups' songs I used to listen to without knowing back in the day via anime?

Right now I have a dance song playlist with NEWS, Hey Say Jump, Arashi, V6, Kis-My-Ft2, and the ONE Kanjani dance song I could find. When I'm ready I'll throw KAT-TUN back in the mix. Also gonna throw in some Backstreet Boys (and by extension, NKOTBSB), cause JE groups shouldn't have all the fun!

I've already decided the day Taguchi leaves JE for good, I'm gonna blast FINALE. I think it'd be appropriate.
hikarikirameku: (KAT-TUN)
I heard the news. My friend broke it to me this morning before work. I've had all day to deal with it and am still no less pissed.

Taguchi leaving KAT-TUN and JE.

I get it, it's his life and he deserves to be happy...

But holy fuck, I don't get how idols just toss their fans under the bus the way they do. They are LITERALLY still there after all the other bullshit they've had to deal with because of us supporting them.

I've been in this fandom for 5 years...5 fucking years. Started late 2010, and was actually introduced early 2010, so it's almost closer to 6.

I came in during the aftermath of the thing with Akanishi. They were just getting their shit together as 5. Then 2013 rolled around and we lost Koki...and now this.

If this is going to start being a trend with idol groups, I may as well just give up now. What's next, NEWS? They've already lost over half of their group. I just got into Hey Say Jump, but they're younger...so how long til this happens with them? They've lost one already.

I'm going to be watching the other 3, and waiting, and hoping...but Taguchi was my bias...THE bias, in ALL of JE. This...this just fucking hurts.

I hope he's happy, and I hope it was worth it for him, but seeing the other members hurt again, after all they've already been through. Taguchi can move on and I wish him well, but I won't support him from here on out. I'm tired of this. I'm tired of seeing Kamenashi shaking and singing with a cracking voice because he was forced AGAIN to deal with the aftermath of someone destroying part of what he's worked so hard to build. Kame was my original bias in KAT-TUN anyways, and I have a ton of respect for him, so if KAT-TUN pulls through, he'll probably reclaim that spot. But I know the members say to, but I can't be happy, not for this, I can't...I'm sad, and pissed.

And once again, I am so, SO happy I have at least one non-Japanese boyband to fall back on, because as much as I get laughed at for still being a Backstreet Boys fan, at least they have their shit together.
hikarikirameku: (KAT-TUN)
I've been in this fandom for 5 years now. Holy crap. Where has the time gone? This year wasn't so bad for KAT-TUN. While I wish they would have gotten a proper tour, seeing them perform in Tokyo Dome again after so long made me super happy. Next year will hopefully be even better, seeing how it'll be their 10th Anniversary since their debut! I plan on going nuts and getting as much stuff as I can manage/afford from Japan whenever their concert tour starts.

Was planning on getting the PV/concert page completely updated by today, but my job decided otherwise, so I didn't quite make it...but I have all the main things done. Mostly just missing the LE bonus stuff from 9uarter (and I'll probably get those up by the end of the week). I guess it'll make for something to mention once Taguchi's birthday rolls around near the end of the month.

Here's to another great year!
hikarikirameku: (Tagu-Jiiiiii~)
So...a friend managed to get me into the Hey Say Jump fandom about two weeks ago. Lord help me. The only good thing is that I haven't gone full fangirl over it yet, and really can't afford to (KAT-TUN kills my wallet as it is, and NEWS doesn't help), so I've gotta go a little more casual with that one. Still, I've already managed a bias. Hikaru Yaotome. He is a dork, but good at rapping, plays bass guitar, and is afraid of cats of all things. He's amusing. Anyways, for having a rep as a silly, cutesy group (and good god, they are), they also have some surprisingly badass songs that a Hyphen would (and in my case does) enjoy. Plus, they have TWO rappers within their 9 members, Daiki and Hikaru (and a few other members aren't too shabby if they have to either), and they have a full band. Like seriously, a guitarist (Keito), bassist (Hikaru), keyboard (Inoo), and drummer (Yuto), and they'll play at points during the concerts, and it's AWESOME. So yeah, while KAT-TUN is always gonna be my ichiban, I'm having fun checking these guys out and seeing the unique things they bring into play.

Technically I've gotten back into the Kamen Rider fandom as well. Kinda did with Drive, but that series hit my shit list when it killed off my favorite character (and it was pretty mediocre as it was and I was ONLY watching it for said character), so now I basically hate it.
On the plus side, Kamen Rider Ghost has managed to get my full attention right out the gate! Plus, I don't have to worry about the main character dying, seeing as they kill him off from the get-go (it's a bit of a non-spoiler...he's Kamen Rider GHOST for a reason, this was common knowledge even before ep.1 aired). The main point of the series is for him to collect enough of the series' collectible gimmick items ("Eyecons" this time) to come back to life. Doesn't hurt that Takeru, the main character, is adorable...like a puppy. His actor's only 17, so that also probably has something to do with it. I've gotten to the point where we're only at ep.5 and I'm already hunting down toys. I managed to get the Ghost Driver, his weapon, one of the secondary Rider's side Eyecons, and I have a few on pre-order I'll hopefully also get. Good thing my paychecks around this time of the year are decent...

Don't think I've forgotten about my other fandoms though. NEWS has a new single coming out on the 25th, "YonJuushi", and I'll be getting the LE for that. I'm SUPER hyped for "ANTHEM", their B-side and also this year's FIFA World Cup song from them. I've heard previews and it's awesome. Their soccer songs always have been though.

...and of course, my main fandom. The big one. KAT-TUN. I have their 9uarter concert DVD. It was awesome. My Hyphen anniversary is in three days, so I plan on finally getting the PV and concert page caught up. I kinda fell behind earlier this year when the computer died and I didn't have one for a few months. I think I'll manage though.
hikarikirameku: (Tagu-Jiiiiii~)

So, I did NOT know about the posters...so imagine my surprise when I pulled THREE of them out of my freaking package...and unlike the Kusabi and In Fact ones, they managed to arrive unscathed. OMG.

On that note, since I have my copies, that means my PV page has been updated. I have both PVs done, and the DoA making of should be up shortly.
hikarikirameku: (Tagu-Jiiiiii~)
...for the KAT-TUN concert. I am way too poor though...and stuck in the US. I wonder if I'll ever manage to get over there?

However, despite not being there, my awesome buddy Nae ...in her infinite awesomeness...has managed to snag me some goods. She got me Junno's new uchiwa, the new venue bracelet (with the 4 group colors), and the photobook. Nae, did I mention you are awesome? That's on top of the uchiwa of each member from the first part of the tour, the penlight, Junno's photoset, and the orange bracelet (which venue was that again? ^^; ). I'm just trying not to think of how much the shipping cost for everything is going to hurt.

I'm also fully expecting KAT-TUN to record their DVD tomorrow night, for the New Year's Eve concert proper. That means we should have a new concert DVD to look forward to next year, when I finally get a chance to see what I missed...and also bust out the penlight and uchiwa...it adds to the viewing experience (and gives me something to excitedly flail around with ^^; ).

Also, of course, still very much looking forward to the Dead or Alive single next month.

I'm back!

I now have regular internet access again. We've finally settled into a new house. So nice not having to live in my aunt's basement anymore.

I'm trying to catch up on all the fandom stuff I missed, but it's probably gonna be hard. There's just been so much stuff x_x

Although, you bet your ass I already have the next KAT-TUN single pre-ordered (all three versions), and my friend in Japan is helping me snag the NEWS one (just the LE) since I wasn't sure I'd catch the preorder window for it (once again, Nae is awesome <3).
In the meantime, been amusing myself by checking out Arashi's Digitalian album...not really a fan, but they usually have at least a few songs per album that catch my ear (I haven't been able to get "Hope in the Darkness" or "Asterisk" out of my head, OMG). This one actually had a few more than usual...probably due to the more electronic-sounding stuff, of which I happen to be a fan (I am a sucker for the "untz, untz", lol). Oh, and I discovered a b-side song from a previous single I'd overlooked called "Intergalactic" which is just glorious.

Currently, work has been just crazy, and I haven't had a lot of time for anything, but I'm trying to make my way through playing Kingdom Hearts 2.5. I'm slowly but surely getting there, lol. I've technically played it before (Japanese version) so I'm not in any rush. I'm looking forward to Birth by Sleep Final Mix though. I need to also finish my playthrough of Arc the Lad: Seirei no Tasogare for YouTube though too...
hikarikirameku: (Tagu-Jiiiiii~)
It's been a while since I've posted pics of the full collection, plus someone asked to see it, so...here it is. I had to split them up because I don't have the floor space to spread it all out at once right now ^^; It's REALLY fun when I get a chance to though, last time I did it, I covered my bed! XD
Pics are a bit big, so they're under the cut )

This was fun, if not a little time consuming...but it's awesome to compare the pics from when my collection was just starting out. Fun fact, the VERY first single that started this whole mess was BIRTH (regular edition). I find the name highly appropriate. I had no idea things were gonna snowball into this though, lol. I regret nothing. It's been a lot of fun...mostly. I was sadly not lucky enough to will a Shin Shun Katsu Mode DVD (my friend entered for me with my CD codes), so that'll be the one thing I'll always be missing x_x

Busy busy

So, I've finally got my computer set back up after a rather grueling move to Texas. I was originally in South Carolina, close to the North Carolina border, so the trip was nothing to scoff at. Took two days. We arrived Tuesday night, I unpacked through Wed. and Thurs, and have been doing various things around the house as of the last few days. Today I finally got around to setting up my desktop. I was using a notebook the past two days to check FB and stuff, but this is my main computer.

So, why is this important, you may wonder? Well, I also finally got a hold of my "come Here" KAT-TUN album I've been waiting for. With the main computer up and running, I'll hopefully have it up soon...ish. Depends on how fast my encoding program decides to take.

In the meantime, I should probably finish setting up my room. Bookshelves and whatnot need filled ^^; There's also the KAT-TUN and NEWS shelves to attend to...

I also need to start looking for a new job. My boyband stuff won't pay for itself, plus money for, you know, other important things :P Luckily, it seems I won't have to worry about new KAT-TUN or NEWS stuff for a few more months. I have a little I've stashed away for KAT-TUN concert goods, but that's it.
hikarikirameku: (Smile)
So, time to watch the spoils of my con victory at the Arashi panel...aka, watching the DVD I won as a prize. Now, note, I am NOT an Arashi fan, not in a way where I would actively follow them. I do know some of their songs through friends and the occasional bout of curiosity however. That said, this is the first time I will ever be watching an Arashi concert. Should be...interesting. Also, won't lie, I feel guilty as hell for watching this...like I'm betraying my groups ^^; It's okay KAT-TUN...if my foray into the NEWS fandom, re-entering the BSB fandom, and dealing with Koki leaving didn't break me, then Arashi won't either.
Okay, let's do this...*Warning: screenshots ahead* )
And the verdict is...
*drumroll* )
hikarikirameku: (Tagu-Jiiiiii~)
So, I got woken up this morning by the dogs barking at the mailman. He had this...

BTW, don't let the pic fool you, those cases are HUGE! The BSB one is A4 sized, and the NEWS one isn't much different besides being square-shaped instead. I had work, so I can't watch them til later, but I can at least get some of the bonus disc stuff out of the way.

But yeah...getting concert blu-rays for 2 of my 3 favorite boybands...hard to top that right?...

Then I saw this:

I am SO freaking excited about this! The only sad thing is it looks like the KAT-TUN concert isn't getting the blu-ray treatment, but hell, I'll take ANYTHING. It's freaking KAT-TUN! MY ICHIBAN! Plus, maybe if the sales do well, they'll release a blu-ray version later on like they did with NEWS' concert last year. I WANT a blu-ray of this eventually...JE, MAKE IT HAPPEN!

I got my copies yesterday. Finally have time to watch the DVDs. So happy~
Although, the mailman unceremoniously shoved my package in the mailbox instead of delivering it at the door, so my poster got crinkled, but I honestly wasn't expecting it to make it unscathed. I put it in between some heavy books to see if that'll help flatten it back out a little before I hang it up. I got the HMV version, so it looks a bit like RE2's cover.
I'm also still very much enjoying the new songs.
hikarikirameku: (Tagu-Jiiiiii~)
I HAVE LOST ABILITY TO CAN!!! Between "BLESS"..."FANTASTIC PLANET"...FUCKING "PHOENIX"!!! (OMFG, this is like classic 6-nin shit right here, I am freaking out!!!) WHY couldn't "PHOENIX" have a PV?!

...Forget the A-sides...the B-sides totally own this album. They are amazing. Not that "Kusabi" and "Gimme Luv" aren't good, it's just the other songs are just THAT MUCH BETTER.

Also, as both horrible and relieved I feel about saying this, I'm pretty sure KAT-TUN will do fine without Koki. Not that I don't miss him...I still do, and I still think some of the songs were screaming for a rap interlude...but I am ecstatic to see that KAT-TUN can do just as well with only 4 members. I guess this is probably close to what NEWS fans felt when Chankapaana came out...

On that note, if you can, BUY THIS ALBUM!!! Seriously, it's worth it. Even if it's just the RE, since you'll get "PHOENIX"...and it's EPIC. We haven't heard a KAT-TUN song remotely like this one in a LONG TIME.
hikarikirameku: (Tagu-Jiiiiii~)
Another year's already gone by in this fandom? Geez...didn't feel like it. One hell of a year it's been too, huh? KAT-TUN went from being my favorite group, to being my 2nd favorite overall. This was actually before the announcement of Koki getting fired, and you can pretty much blame that on the power of Backstreet Boys nostalgia. There's no way a group I had only been following for a couple of years can compete with one I grew up with. Then there was Koki, and that pretty much was the solidifying factor. Not that I still don't love KAT-TUN, they're still my favorite Japanese band...but overall, yeah, things have changed.

This year wasn't ALL bad though, we got an AWESOME single in the form of "EXPOSE", Junno got his solo PV even if the FACE to Face singles were overall rather "meh", and we have a mini-album on the way...

...Though I'd be willing to bet had stuff not gone down, it would have been a proper album, and we'd have had a tour by now. I ended up getting my first ever concert good from NEWS. My friend won't be in Japan for the KAT-TUN concerts either, so I'll miss any chance of good from that *sighs* Oh well. It's been a hard year for all of us.

Anyways, by some small miracle, I'm still here...and this next year we'll have just the 4 remaining members...but I will wait and see what they will do from here on, and do my best to stick around. At this point, they need all the help from the Hyphens they can get.

P.S. - I realized I never did finish my uploading project from last year. *sighs* Really though, unless there is a MASSIVE demand for it, I'm not going to rush. Full concerts are a pain in the ass to upload.
hikarikirameku: (Tagu-Jiiiiii~)
So yeah, I forgot I haven't posted about this on LJ (and just a very short blurb about it on FB).

So, I'm still not sure what kind of feels I'm exactly feeling about the whole situation with Koki. I think I've run the gamut of shocked, sad, depressed, angry, angsty...nothing good. Thankfully I have a Chankapaana (Hyphen on the side) friend in [livejournal.com profile] effi_g who has managed to at least talk me into not rage-quitting the fandom. Because OH have I been tempted.

Thing is, over the KAT-TUN hiatus (which we're not finding out the reason for), I've rediscovered my love of Backstreet Boys. For many, MANY reasons, they are SO much better for me to follow than any Japanese group. I COULD leave for greener pastures, and in a way I have, they're my new favorites now, but I won't abandon KAT-TUN...

The fact remains that for 3 years, KAT-TUN has been my ichiban group, when there weren't any other boybands I could really get into, that has to count for something I suppose. Plus, as much as they apparently don't give a damn about each other outside of work, at least they got along while they were working together...well, once Jin wasn't a factor anymore. I think they genuinely cared about each other up to a point. They also make some really catchy songs...and really, when it comes down to it, that's the MAIN reason to really follow any music artist. Then there's Koki...really, anything Koki did, I just kept thinking "If he had been in the US, no one would have gave a fuck"...because really, what he did is kiddy stuff compared to what we hear about celebrities over here getting into. Hell, it was tame considering what two of the Backstreet Boys had gotten themselves into (and subsequently out of because the other members are amazing and looked out for each other). But of course, this is Japan, and JE is stupidly overbearing and controlling, and plays favorites to boot...so yeah, while the more popular acts can practically get away with damn-near anything with a slap on the wrist, Koki gets fired. I think I'm fed up with the company more than anything, honestly. If it wasn't for the fact that boycotting JE would hurt KAT-TUN, I totally would. There's also the issue of also following NEWS, so either way, JE still gets my money *sighs* So yeah, it's the necessary evil I have to put up with in order to enjoy any Japanese group. Pisses me off...

Anyways, if KAT-TUN wants to keep their top spot as far as my favorite Japanese artist is concerned, they'll have to work for it. If they can't keep up...well...that'll be it. Although, if they can at least keep on par with what NEWS puts out, they're good. I just hope they still give me some of the rock stuff they're known for, and don't completely lose their signature "KAT-TUN feel". Although, it'll be really damn hard without Koki's signature raps. Don't even get me started on "REAL FACE" either...

Blah, this ended up being a big incoherent mess...

In a nutshell - While KAT-TUN is no longer my ichiban, I haven't sworn them off, and I'm still gonna give the new 4-nin format a shot. I'll also keep an eye on Koki, but I have a feeling whatever it is he ends up doing will be outside my tastes. I wish him luck though, and I hope he gives JE a proverbial "Fuck You" in the process. Backstreet Boys (and NEWS to a degree) will keep me occupied in the meantime.
